Mike Hucabee's lecture

I went to listen to Mr. Mike Huckabee’s lecture with some of my friends. We had Dave’s class before the lecture, but he made the class shorter and let us go. It was quite sad that we missed his class again. He was sick three weeks ago. I love his class, so I thought “why is always Dave’s class??” Thanks to him we could get seat, it was still on stairs, but we had quite good opportunity to listen to his lecture.

It was really pity that I couldn’t understand everything. I could do what he was talking about most of the time. But I couldn’t get details. His English was so clear that it made his speech easier to understand. I found something very interesting too. His lecture reminded me of Al gore’s speech. I remember his speech in the movie called “In an inconvenience truth” we saw a few weeks ago. The way Mr. Huckabee spoke was quite similar to that of Al Gore’s. Their voices were really clear and they were walking around while speaking, even their intonations were similar too. I was surprised at those things. I wondered why they spoke so well in front of large audience as well.

I liked it when he spoke about his childhood. He begged his parents to buy him a guitar and finally got one at JC penny.

I found many things from his lecture. It is more difficult to listen to strangers. I don’t know much about them, so we can’t guess what they are going to talk about. On the other hand, it makes much easier if we know about things related to their country or them.

The most memorable thing from his lecture was the guy asked him about homosexual marriage. I had never met a guy who was homosexual. I think it is unusual for Japanese to think about that kind of things. I felt that it was really American. There are lots of people from all over the world.

I had reservation at practice center with one of the ELI teachers last Wednesday. I talked about the guy and Mike Hucabee with him. I just wanted to know exactly what they mentioned and what was going on between them. In my opinion at first, Mike Hucabee was rude to Sam. However as I talked about it with the teacher, I was changing my mind. I just knew much more new things.

The teacher told me. “There were many things that I couldn’t agree with him. But he was quite calm when the guy asked the question. Mike Hucabee did well as a politician. I could tell that when Sam asked him about homosexual, they will fight or argue. They will never change their minds. Nor they can change each other’s mind, because what they said is their own opinion.”
After I talked about them, I changed topic. I talked about American politics which was really difficult to understand. And I had talked for nearly one hour with the teacher, my brain didn’t work at last. I learnt that I should think of people as people. I can’t explain very well, but what I want to say is that even I found something bad about a person, it doesn’t mean he or she is bad. It’s just one bad point about them. The teacher also told me that he didn’t like his some points BUT he liked some points too.

I found it very important. We had really good opportunity to listen to his lecture. We could see part of America, I guess. If there is something like his lecture, I’d love to go and listen.

I liked some of the things he said but also really didn't like others! But yeah, I think Mike Huckabee seemed like a kind person even if I didn't agree with much of his politics.
